| CTC intends to front research in a range of areas. One aspect of our research focuses on the dynamic and complex relationships between the public & private sector within the tourism ecosystem, especially in instances of conflict and consensus, both past and present. Another aspect looks at the management of tourism alongside nature conservation objectives, tourism marketing and management, cultural tourism and much more. In doing so, CTC would be partnering up with various Institutions of High Learning (IHLs) throughout the Commonwealth. Issues such as 'economics of tourism' -- developed tourism models and techniques as well as tourism demand models and forecasting would be argued through the plethora of academic research reports and conferences within the scope of Tourism. The philosophy within the Centre is one that recognises the need for policy decisions to be firmly based on rigorous analysis. The unifying theme is the application of appropriate theories and thorough empirical analysis to provide the evidence from which policies can be developed for the further development of Tourism in the Commonwealth. In doing so and through strategic partnerships with the IHLs, CTC can provide advice concerning the role of the government relative to the private sector, notably in the areas of infrastructure provision and the selection of target sectors, maximising economic linkage effects and appropriate policy responses to increasing economic openness and globalisation; in relations to trade and tourism.
