Industry Training

As one of any country's largest employers, tourism is a viable economic development strategy for many communities. The tourism industry is complex because it includes parts of a variety of economic sectors (transportation, accommodations, food and beverage services, recreational activities, retail shopping, and entertainment).

The tourism industry is highly competitive because local destinations vie with other communities and national and international destinations for market share. The tourism experience is a quality-driven one, and interaction with employees of tourism-based establishments is a key determinant of quality. Hence, determining local training needs of tourism-based employees would provide value assistance to any local tourism industry.

By highlighting the contribution education and training can make, CTC is endeavouring to raise standards, improve quality and guarantee the industry's future, in a vibrant and competitive Commonwealth.

CTC, as a leading body, continues to provide benchmarks in training for the Commonwealth and meets on a regular basis with industry leaders, federal government representatives, registered training organisations, industry associations and other key stakeholders.

The focus of CTC is to:

  • build partnerships between training providers and enterprises to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of training and assessment services by tailoring skill delivery strategies to meet the real needs of the industry.
  • market and promote the training framework for the benefit of all stakeholders.
  • promote effective and efficient relationships with industry, training providers, government agencies, etc
  • encourage upskilling and retraining of workers.
  • increase the flexibility and quality of service.
  • provide advice and facilitate the exchange of information between industry, government and other bodies.
